The impassable waterfall

Ófærufoss – the impassable waterfall.

The canyon Eldgjá is the largest volcanic canyon in the world. It is a 40 km long eruptive fissure, approximately 600 metres wide in many places and up to 200 metres deep.

Eldgjá is part of the Icelandic Highlands; one of my favourite places in the world with its glaciers, glowing green moss and barren deserts of black sand.
